Asics has agreed to partner SportScheck, Germany’s largest specialty sporting goods retailer, with their series of city runs. The series of events, supported by BMW, is described as the largest of its type in the country. The deal between Asics and SportScheck has been signed for the current year only at this point. Last year, the runs were held in 20 cities around the country and attracted more than 85,000 participants. Asics will support the runs by providing “souvenir” shirts, a tradition which has been in place since 1979 when Scheck first launched the initiative. The Asics shirts are made from high performance functional fibers which are manufactured by another Japanese firm, Toray.
