A court based in Milan, Italy, has granted a preliminary injunction to Columbia Sportswear and its Italian subsidiary, OutDry, against footwear company Geox. The case is about Geox’ sales of Amphibiox-branded shoes sold in Italy which allegedly infringe a patent owned by OutDry on waterproof and breathable footwear. The injunction rules that further sale of some of these items be stopped. The decision may be subject to appeal. OutDry is not the first company to have a dispute with Italian shoe brand Geox. W.L. Gore & Associates also had a quarrel with it when Gore launched its Surround technology a few years ago.
