Sport 2000 Deutschland has appointed Hans-Hermann Deters as new co-managing director, effective Nov. 1. He will steer the buying group along with Andreas Rudolf who will continue to lead the group in charge of purchase, sales and marketing. Deters’ job will mainly be to take care of the specialty shop formats operated by affiliated retailers with a focus on outdoor, running and team sports.
Additionally, he will develop the international business of ANWR Garant International. The group holds the Sport 2000 license for Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The current co-managing director, Michael Decker, will concentrate on his top position with ANWR Schuh, a buying group of shoe retailers, which is – very much like Sport 2000 Germany – affiliated to ANWR Group.
54-year-old Deters will face a specific situation in the Netherlands for which ANWR Group acquired the Sport 2000 license in fall 2012 and where it has led both the members of Sport 2000 and Fair Play International since.
“Further improving Sport 2000’s market position is an exciting challenge in my new job. In recent years, I have been collaborating with my future colleagues in Mainhausen in the most amicable way. I learned that both Sport 2000 and ANWR Group are progressive and innovative companies.”
Hans-Hermann Deters, new managing director, Sport 2000 Deutschland
Deters’ C.V. comprises a long list of well-known players from the sporting goods and shoe industry, including Reebok for which he oversaw the distributors in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) as general manager and Germany and Central Europe as managing director. Later on, he led the business of Kettler, the German manufacturer of bicycles, fitness equipment and other hard goods. Over the last three years, Deters was member of the executive board in charge of sales and marketing at Ara Shoes, a leading marketer of casual footwear.
