The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) reports positive feedback from attendees at the annual Manufacturers Forum held in Leipzig, Germany, this month. 180 representatives of companies from 22 countries came together at the WFSGI event, which was supported by ISPO. The main focus was on the integration of design into manufacturing.
Why do we need to bring design and manufacturing together? The answer is: we need to reduce costs and improve efficiency.”
Herbert Hainer, CEO, Adidas Group
As described by Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer in his keynote speech, most participants agreed on efficiency as a critical factor for the future of manufacturing. A visit to Leipzig’s Porsche factory showcased what efficiency can mean when production, design and development are interlocked at an early stage.
A large majority of the participants expressed their wish to attend to next year’s Manufacturers Forum, which is scheduled for Asia in the fourth quarter of 2015.
