GoPro buys French virtual reality tech company

GoPro, the specialty marketer of action cameras, has announced the plan to acquire Kolor, a French company specialized in virtual reality filming technology. Kolor offers film technologies which enable videos to be shown on globe-like devices. The operations of Kolor are set to remain in Savoie, France. The idea behind the acquisition is apparently to increase efforts in the sector of panoramic and virtual movie-watching.

The Kolor take-over is the latest step in GoPro’s strategy to acquire state-of-the-art technologies around its core products and to widen it product line. A few weeks ago, GoPro informed that it was considering moving into the business of drones at an affordable price.
