China’s huge internet player Alibaba, which runs online platforms like Taobao and Tmall, is working hard to improve its hold on the international business outside the domestic market. The corporation has now hired Michael Evans as its new president. Evans joined the skyrocketing company in fall 2014 to assist, as an external director, in the course of Alibaba’s initial public offering at Wall Street at that time. The exec has spent some three decades in the investment business, including about 20 years at Goldman Sachs. There, he held various positions, including chairman for the Asian markets.
