Swimmers and triathletes who want to record their heart rate should check out Garmin’s two new chest straps, HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim, which guarantee minimal drag in water.
Last fall Garmin introduced an all-in-one multi-sports watch for triathletes: the Forerunner 920XT. They are now following up with two new heart rate straps, HRM-Tri and HRM-Swim, which have been specifically designed for swimmers and triathletes. Thanks to a weight of only 51gm and a water resistance of 5ATM both chest straps are perfectly designed to suit an athletes’ requirements.
Great wearing comfort
With its covered seams and rounded edges the easily adjustable strap of the HRM-TRI offers great wearing comfort both in and out of the water. The flat sensor fits perfectly under a wetsuit and records the heart rate while swimming for up to 20 hours before transferring them to a compatible Garmin device via ANT+. The HRM-Tri also measures running dynamics with the help of special motion sensors: pace, vertical oscillation and ground contact time allow for a detailed analysis of individual running styles.
Premium fit – minimal drag
Thanks to its non-slip wide strap the HRM-Swim is ideal for recording heart rates while pool training as it stays in place during flip turns and push-offs, even without wearing a wetsuit. The sensor creates hardly any drag through the water and can also be used in salt or chlorine water without interrupting the recording of the heart rate.
The training data can later be transferred to a compatible Garmin device like the Forerunner 920XT, and be analyzed on the Garmin Connect platform. Through the Garmin Connect mobile app the activities can also be shared live with friends.
