Adidas: Investors call for external Hainer successor

Who will be his successor by 2017? Herbert Hainer, CEO of Adidas since 2001.

According to media reports, certain investors are apparently urging the Adidas supervisory board to appoint a new chief executive from outside the company. Notably, fund investors Southeastern Asset Management and Union Investment would prefer someone from outside the three stripes to one of the current executive board members as a successor to Herbert Hainer, whose contract expires in March 2017.

Rumor has it that Kasper Rorsted, chief executive of chemical group Henkel, has already met with Igor Landau, chair of Adidas’ supervisory board, to present himself as a potential successor to Hainer. It was said, however, that there are no results from the meeting at this point.
