According to preliminary figures, online retailer Zalando increased its sales by something like 41-43 percent in the third quarter, up to €717 million compared with the same period last year.
Earnings before interests and taxes were negative again, however, at -€18-32 million. Last year, Zalando had an Ebit profit of €4 million.
The retailer has cited various reasons for the loss, including higher expenses in order to finance the strong growth. Other factors were high investments in marketing, logistics and fulfillment. Part of the loss (into single-figure millions) came from a higher rate in customer fraud.
