Adidas strikes deal to speed up production

Manz_Suzhou_300dpi_2The Three Stripes have signed an agreement with Manz, a German machinery manufacturer, to develop new ways to produce sporting goods faster. Back in spring, Adidas presented the idea of using robots able to manufacture items tailored according to customer wishes including, if possible, at points of sale themselves. By 2020, the brand expects about half of its products to be made significantly faster than is the case today.

Manz has agreed to provide production technologies and machinery supported by automatic robots. Just a few weeks ago, Adidas’s management hinted that it would be willing to manufacture the German national soccer team’s jerseys in the home country again – supported by fully automatized production facilities.
