Intersport Austria has reported a 6.5 percent increase in sales in its financial year ended Sept. 30. Total retail sales reached about €500 million for the Intersport stores in Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
The growth is due partly to positive developments in ski rental and urban outlets in Austria itself. The rental business soared by 10.4 percent, while city stores achieved an increase of 7.3 percent over the prior year.
New store openings also helped to push up the figures. During this calendar year, Intersport opened six points of sale in Austria alone. The group now counts 156 retailers in the four countries who run 345 stores.
